Impact of Global Warming on Biodiversity

Global warming has become an urgent environmental issue and has a major impact on biodiversity throughout the world. The Earth’s ever-increasing average temperature affects various aspects of life, from terrestrial to aquatic ecosystems. These changes lead to habitat loss, changes in species behavior, and population declines. One of the significant impacts of global warming is habitat change. As a consequence, native species are being pushed out and their populations are declining. Not to forget, the impact on biodiversity is also related to humans. Loss of species can cause significant economic losses, especially for communities that depend on natural resources. With biodiversity decreasing, the potential for developing new medicines and nature-based products is also threatened. In addition, climate change will worsen already unstable environmental conditions, triggering extreme phenomena such as floods, droughts and forest fires. These events will further destroy the habitats where various species live, thereby accelerating the loss of biodiversity. Overall, global warming creates complex challenges and can change the structure of existing ecosystems. Mitigating climate change and protecting biodiversity must be carried out simultaneously to ensure the sustainability of species and ecosystems in the future. Habitat conservation, sustainable resource management, and increasing public awareness are important steps in dealing with the impacts of global warming.
